I'm pretty sure these sizers are only meant for sizing bullets down a few thou. Reducing the diameter by 20 thou is probably going to take more force than a standard Lee press can handle.

Let us know how it goes.

it was someone on an American site that is doing it, but he was using fmj's..he mentioned having to do it i 2-3 stages so might involve buying 3 dies...but if it works....

I think you should admit defeat now...

How about a 22-204 if you must have something different?

Berger do a 55 grain bullet for 20 cal not sure they are meant for deer and you'll need a 1-7 twist barrel and sourcing them maybe an issue but it maybe something to consider

.

Your choices are extremely limited - Shoot either a 50 or 55 grn Burger. The later of these bullets drill straight through rabbits and foxes, the 50 grn may be better ??.

I don't know how either perform of deer. But I do know you will need a custom barrel fitted with the appropriate twist to stabilise these pills.

The bullets WILL be harder to source and cannot be posted as they are classed as expanding ammunition. Plus they will be far more expensive.

and after all that - you will still have a rifle that is far less versatile and suitable for deer than the 223 or any of the 6mm calibres.
Is it any wonder why the bullet manufactures don't produce a 204 bullet meant for anything other than small vermin. But its your money and your choice..... So good luck with that

Just for accuracy - regarding your post - the 204 has "far more energy than .223" IT DOES NOT.

example. 223 shooting a 53 grn Vmax generates 1413 FPE - The 204 shooting a 40 grn Vmax generates 1351 FPE .
They are factory figures from Hornady

Have fun whittling your 0.224 bullets to 204 cal - I am sure they will be very accurate. :-D

Your own words are had a few runners with .22-250 but then you do pinch a bit to save shoulders ........

Think it be any different with a .204?

Stop pinching a bit and put round in the engine room ....the heart not rear lungs and less runners

Doesn't matter your caliber .....bullet placement!

Comprehension not your strong suit then?

nah sorry it is not, am a thicko fae up the skeem so if yae could pit it in plain English insteed ae aw yar fancy words that wid be just bonza.

I said with the same bullet weight the .204 has more energy.....jesus read the bloody words edit..the .223 shooting a 40gr Vmax has 1282ft/lbs...erm, thats a lower number than 1351 is it not? so that is less?????

see what I mean about rabid piranhas ... one gets brave enough to post the shoal jumps in to have a go and pat each other on their backs....they have never tried a .204 on roe so have no idea what the results will be...same as when someone took a varmint .243 and tried it on sika, fallow and red....unless you try these things then who knows?
Its just the bloody mindedness of the collective on here you expect...we don't do it that way, so therefore it must be wrong...

I repeat...ITS LEGAL....SCOTTISH POLICE AND GOVERNMENT ARE HAPPY ITS LEGAL...so screw you....its happening (definitely now) thabks for the positive imput by some of the forward thinking folks on here....

I have also never stood in front of a train or set myself on fire. The good thing is I don't need to do these things to tell that it is a bad idea! How about you?

.204 is not legal for roe in scotland. just because deer act doesn't mention calibre, home office guidance is quite clear that .222 and above are deer legal for roe.

every village has one.
