.22-250 and .270

New to reloading, getting some gear ready over the next week...as regards bullets I am going for 50g noslers for .22-250 and 110g vmax for .270 ...I have been recommended n140 for .22-250 and Ramshot hunter for .270....as that is Chinese to me am I on the right track or should I get my mate to fire the first shot? Ramshot Hunter is meant to be good for the .270 - I'm keen to try some myself. Get a Lee reloading manual - there's more than enough info in there to get you started. Reloading isn't rocket science.

110grn sounds a bit light for a .270. The Nosler manual that I have, does not list anything for less than 130grn, but Richard Lee lists loads for 90grn and heavier.

I use the 110g vmax in factory and my old a-bolt likes them.

use N160 personally and 130gr for the .270

110gr VMax must save you the bother of gralloching and mincing does it?.......

Ramshot Hunter is an excellant powder for the .270 covers everything from 90grn to 150grn i also have used 110 Vmax to very good effect and yes i did still have to Gralloch and yes there was still alot of meat left!

I use Vit140 behind 55g VMax or Winchester 55g Softpoint with very good results on fox and Roe.
Its readily available and popular with a lot of reloaders around my way.

I'm using H380 with a 50gr vmax in my 22-250 and H4831SC with a 110gr vmax in my 270. Both loads working very well, although it looks like I might have to make a move to viht powders soon as Hodgdon powders are getting increasingly more difficult to get hold of!

I have used 110gr Serria SP in my Winchester 270, with 60gr H4831, and they where deadly with very little meat damage. I don't have a 22-250, but I know that when Mr Hodgdon himself loaded for it, he used 38gr of a then new powder with a 52gr bullet and was so impressed with the load, he named the powder H380. I do have a full tub of H380 spare for sale if any body wants it.

i used varget or imr 4007ssc in my 22/250 with superb accuracy. with 50 grain blizking or nostler.

If you are starting reloading first bit of kit you need is reloading manuals, if you want to shoot a particular bullet get that manufactures manual then you will know the recomended powders for that bullet / weight, people on here will tell you what their preferance is , which is great but you should Always check the published and tested data before reloading
