.222 Barnes 30gr grenade

I never seat and crimp in single operation, it's just not a good idea. And yes I do trim my cases. And use Lee FC in some applications.

Fortunately I don't own 458, was helping friend with one, he was set on the (published) compressed load and it was a lecture in patience...

All heavy bulleted cartridges need a good strong crimp irrespective of charge compression or not unless it's a single shot.

If you look at some old dangerous game ammunition you can often observe heavy crimping. Some have dot punch marks even.

A basic roll crimp is not ideal for a 458 wm repeating rifle.
With standard cases many lubricate the inside of the neck to aid sizing. If they don't remove said lube then it's going to help the bullet move in a non crimped reload.

The very fact that published verified data exists calling for compressed powder charges in some applications means it's perfectly normal.

Tried them and gave up, usless things, gave a box and a half to some one on here. Just did not work in either of my 222'S. That was with N133 though.
Worked well enough in my .22 hornet, shot 100 or so rabbits with them, accuracy was good but expansion didn’t live up to the name so went back to 35 gr v-max.

I still have a few hundred, got 4074 fps with 35 gr so should be able to get them north of 4100 fps in my .223 AI which could be fun!
