222 n140

Hi all, does anyone have any load data for 222 in viht n140 using 50/55gr bullets? I know it’s not a standard load with this combo but I’m using n140 in 204, 243 and 308. Ideally I’d just like to use the one powder for all 4 calibres.

I think N140 is a little slow for .222. 100% case capacity with a SMK 1340 (50gr) is still sub-3000fps and low burn rate (~82%) indicated. Similar story for SMK 1390 (55gr).

Think it's too slow. You'll not get a full burn. I use 140 in my 22250 but I only use 55grain in my 223 and I think it's to slow for those weight bullets. It would be perfect for 69 grain plus.

I tried it in .222 when reloading as its what i used in my 7mm too slow im afraid

I once spoke to a well know chap who specialises in .222
I was looking to buy my first .222

"Fill an case with N140 to the lip of the neck, seat a 50gr soft point, and go stalking!!"
this is what that looks like....



you will have a bit of unburnt powder but not enough to justify buying another powder

135 is the slowest I use and I'll fill that half way up the neck.
If all I had was 140 I'd level to the top of the case and cram a bullet on top like suggested above. Nowt bad will happen.
