223 moderator

Morning all.

Which overbarrell moderator do you recommend for occasional (say once every 6 weeks) range use and nightly vermin control?

It’s for a 223 with an 5/8 x 18 thread. Rifle wears a 30 cal Sonic 45 at the mo but I think a calibre specific mod would be better.

Cheers,
Terry

DPT of NZ

.223 is the choice of the pro culler there and DPT has made a name for themselves, being some of the lightest, best sound attenuation and durability.

No need for the stainless steel baffle either since that adds about 20% onto the cost.

Excellent mod, bought a mint used one with the s/s baffle, still only 300g and very quiet on a 23 inch barrel.243.

Frayer and devik iv had them all and the new UTS is by far the best iv had not the nicest looking but performance, weight and size it’s unbelievable

I have an Evolution too. Really easy to clean and calibre can be changed by changing the internal diffuser, which works cheaper than buying a full moderator for each calibre you may own in the future.

DPT with extra baffles, including a SS blast baffle. Make sure you store it vertically after the WD40 squirt, post use. Mine blew up because I didn't do what I have just said. It seems to need to 'drain' after use!

I got a DPT on my 243 very impressed with it nice and light weight my mate got the same model on his 300wm and I was shocked how good it was

Dpt with stainless baffle is good . The ase cqb 223 mod is also very good.
The ase is a end of barrel mod but it is very short and compact and will be around the same length as the overbarrel dpt when fitted.
The Mae stainless mods last forever but not sure if there still available.
