243 second hand market dead

The secondhand market for rifles is on its backside full stop.
Excellent news
Please bring them all in to us…

.243 is dead? Great. I will take them all….
Still one of the biggest sellers

Without being too disparaging a lot of shotgun shops don’t understand the rifle market or what the non lead ban means to any particular calibre/cartridge

There isn’t a cartridge out there that is destined for extinction as a result of moving to non lead

17hornet - check

Deer calibres:
222 - check
22-250 - check
.243 - check
.25-06 - check

We do factory ammo that is deer legal for all of them even in standard twist

You can add in the 22Hornet as well with either the little 40gr Fox or 35gn Barnes Varmint Grenade.

Some shooters forget that despite barrel twist rates a moderator extends the barrel and thus varies the velocity at the muzzle copper or lead.....also it creates a new crown so can have an effect, the any twist in the moderator is different to the rifle barrel...

Well said Ed - .243 is a brilliant, versatile cartridge that has stood the test of time and will probably outlast most of us on this forum. My M55 Tikka .243 is the only rifle of mine that I have shot a possible with at Bisley. The low recoil is helpful imho.

I have a lot of history with 243 and have probably shot more UK deer with a .243 than any other caliber. My 1987 .243 Ruger M77 Stainless zytel stock was the perfect rifle for dragging around the Scottish hills for culling Roe and red hinds and calfs, mine did double duty as my main fox rifle loaded down with 60 grain Sierra varminter hollow point grenades. It had a little trigger work when new and became one of my favorite rifles.

As a caliber .243 / 6mm is seeing massive growth with development of many cartridges such as:
6mm Dasher
6mm GT
6mm x 47 Lapua
6XC
6mm Creedmoor
6mm ARC
6mm PRC

Federal is just launching it's 6.5 Creedmoor + Peak ammunition, I'm sure we will see a 6mm Creedmoor version following soon.

The old .243 Win is far from dead, There are many good bullets for shooting both lead and non lead in all twist rates. The new 6mm rounds and technology will go far into the future.
