I use 48gr of h4831 in my t3 with a remmington large primer. The results are approx 3200fps although I have never checked via chrono yet. Gives about half inch groups at 100 yards and the results are devastating and definately not for deer

cheers remmy7

Remmy,
There are two types of Hornady 87gn HpBt bullet,
One is a traditional hunting/game bullet, Manf No 2442 and a Varmint bullet, Manf No 22440.
I have been using the traditional bullet, Manf No 2442, on Deer with excellent results for the last twenty five+ years.
I have not come across the V Max bullet but would not use them anyway as the original bullet does all I can ask of it.

Hi There,

Sorry I did not make my post clear, I was refering to the V-max it is explosive on Fox. A lot of my colleagues use the bullet to which EMcC refers and swear by it. I myself use the 85 Grain Partition (using the same recipe) for Roe and so far I am pleased with the results. I am however still experimenting with the 243 loads as I have only been using it since 2006, The previous twenty odd years saw me using the .223 on Roe but I must confess that having lost two beasts with what appeared to be well placed shots I eventually made the switch.

Cheers Remmy7
