Ive started loading for my tikka 25-06.1-10twist. Was loading with nosler 100gr they not been great results so far. Im thinking of going lighter has anyone tried loading with the sierra blitz 70gr or hornady 75 with success

Had a 25-06 years ago. Used 75 grain hornady, 85 nosler bt and 100gr bt. All shot well, touching/ragged holes. Used n160 cci primers. Remington Sendero barrel

I’ve reloaded for 20 years with one recipe only for my 25-06 : 100gr Ballistic tip nosler, and 49.5 grains of IMR 4831. Hugely accurate, over 3000 fps, ideal for all deer.

Never had any success with lighter bullets in my Sako. 117gr were far better and just I've worked up a load for 120gr using N165. Excellent results. Couldn't really see the point of basically replicating the ballistics of a .243
Just reading Biffo's post, yes 4831 is a fantastic powder in the .25 - if you have some. I tried to replace it using N160 and it just wasn't the same. Now with N165, it seems to be back on target - as it were.

I've moved to 120gr HP and tried slowing it down a little. Easy to get the '06 really flying, but it has damaged quite a few carcasses for me. However, every deer I have shot with it from red to roe has dropped on the spot. No complaints on that score.

100-120 alway work in 10 tw quarterbore

As others have suggested 117 interlocks worked when I had one as did 120 ballistic tips
