Never had any success with lighter bullets in my Sako. 117gr were far better and just I've worked up a load for 120gr using N165. Excellent results. Couldn't really see the point of basically replicating the ballistics of a .243
Just reading Biffo's post, yes 4831 is a fantastic powder in the .25 - if you have some. I tried to replace it using N160 and it just wasn't the same. Now with N165, it seems to be back on target - as it were.
I've moved to 120gr HP and tried slowing it down a little. Easy to get the '06 really flying, but it has damaged quite a few carcasses for me. However, every deer I have shot with it from red to roe has dropped on the spot. No complaints on that score.
