It's really a question of what type of rifle you want to own. Good value factory-built rifles will be in established and available calibres like the 25-06 and ammunition will be readily available. If you decide you want a custom build at much greater expense but be able to specify all the components yourself, then you have a free choice of calibres and 6.5x47 would be a good choice.
If Sako, Tikka, Steyr Mannlicher, Remington etc offered 6.5x47 as a factory calibre, then there would be a middle path. It's probably stuck in a Catch 22 situation in the US where the rifle makers won't offer it without factory ammunition, and the ammunition makers won't offer it until there are factory rifles. Plus the competition from the .260 Rem and the 6.5mm Creedmoor, and the fact that it's not a US invention, and it's metric..! Perhaps Lapua should have called it the .260 Valkyrie or something similar.
