Sauer 404xt 21” barrel
Lapua brass first loading and I’m getting the following results
Max velocity 2554fpswith 44.7gr vit n140 vit speed says should be 2697 at 43.8 gr with 24” barrel
I am 0.9 gr above vit data with compressed load loaded to book coal. And checked on GRT.
hit first signs of any pressure at this point very small indication of ejectors on the case head. So no further

Was hoping for a bit more speed with it being monolithic,

Any recommendations on powders to get some more velocity.

With that shorter barrel, if I had to stick with a 150 grain bullet, I would give N135 a try. N540 could be worth a go.
I am contemplating a 20 inch 308. If I go for it, it will be with a view to using 140 grain LOS over N135.

The manafacturers load data is for that barrel used. All barrels are different, some faster, some slower.
Also, like in your case the test barrel is longer than yours so it is natural that mv would be higher.
20-250's advice seems good, pressures MAY spike earlier with the N135 though.

Just get you loading manual look for 150gn bullet In 308 and work up a load simple as that!

150gn bullet is a 150gn bullet lead or copper

I’m loading Fox Classic Hunter monolithic in my .308
Powder is N140 (43.5 grains)
Barrel length is 50 cm
Ave velocity is 2610

Very accurate and it is fast enough for what I need.
