I'm putting together a round for a friend. I've been using a .308 win Nosler BT 150g load with 42.5 gr N140 which through a 20" T3 lite has been giving good results over the last few years. I've never chrono'd it but the "polite" recoil through the T3 indicates it's a pretty slow, but effective round for woodland Roe and the occasional hillside red. I kind of estimate (from extrapolating Nosler's own data) it's doing around the 2500fps mark. It's accurate through the Tikka.
This friend has a 22" barrel Blaser, and has much the same criteria- effective for Roe and red hind culling. So, can anyone check what sort of MV I'm likely to get from the same recipe through the 22" Blaser? I'm going to load up a test batch and we'll chrono it, but as we live about 90 minutes apart I'd like to make sure I'm barking up the right tree from the off.
I'd also like to figure what sort of increase in velocity I'm likely to get per additional grain of N140, although Nosler data suggests 42.5 is already 100% capacity, but nowhere near max load.
Federal once fired, fully resized.
CCI 200 LR primers
Nosler BT 150 grain spitzer (hunting)
Seated to SAAMI spec. (It's a hunting load so unless it really doesn't shoot well I don't intend totune bugger about with the seating depth)
Thanks in advance.
