308 copper

I’ve recently bought a sako in 308 shoot mostly red and roe,the bullets I use are sako power blade x 120grn copper, fine on red absolutely destroys roe what do people recommend for both species?

Sako 75 in .308
Home load 'non-lead'126.5gr Yewtree @ 45gr N140.

Stalk 1 = 1 Fallow Yeld Hind
Stalk 2 = Blank (absolutely no wind - cigarette smoke just hanging).
Stalk 3 = 1 Red Hind (alone and unlikely to make it to the end of February - poor condition left on the hill for the Eagles)
2 x Red Hinds

Using 165gr exergy blue from S&B, find they take animals cleanly, down to even muntjac.
Angle and POI can impact on meat damage but generally I find they work well.
Lighter 110gr just don't work in my rifle.

Not 308, but I have found the 7mm 130gn Fox very good on Fox, Roe, Sika and Red out of a 7x57 with a MV of c2900 fps.

I have a Sako 75 stainless synthetic in 308 and have been using Fox 150 grain with 44 grains of N540 for about 5 years now taking roe, red and sika out to 300 yards with no problems.
I won't be changing.

Have been using them for many many years now ,

Go up in weight and avoid frangible bullets
Roe are thin skinned light framed animals
they dont need huge velocity from a 120-130gr bullet

nice neat hole from a 150gr at reasonable velocities will work fine
Something with controlled expansion that maintains its mass and doesnt break up will cause less carcase damage

Barnes in a heavier class, Hornady CX, Fox Classic Hunter, Peregrine, Hasler etc all good

Another for S&B 165gr. Muntjac, fallow, red and the odd roe. Hardly any damage and has been dropping them on the spot. Distance under 150m to be safe (I know some of you on here, like your 300-500m shots)

Only used on Roe so far but the Virtus Osprey 125’s perform well. Nice controlled expansion with not too much damage and dropped on the spot. This is the toughest of the line up and needs to be pushed quite fast I believe.

The 120 sako are being phased out and replaced by 150s.... so perhaps wait till they're available ?
Also the rws evo green in 308 are great all-round.

Good to hear heym, could i possibly ask for what sort of load you use ? And is that in a 24' barrel ?
