308 for roe deer

150gr Sierra game kings running at about 2700fps will sort anything
Shot these for years to the exclusion of everything else but then switched to Nosler 150gn BT when I bought my M595 new. Main reason for switching was that these bullets seemed to 'hit harder' & hence drop fallow rather than have them run on which meant chance of a second, or more, shot on the doe herds before they ran off - we were culling a lot of fallow & numbers were a priority over the odd one with carcass damage. Have shot everything up to & including Moose with them & they do the job.

However, I dropped on a load of the 150gn Gameking at a good price last year when I wasn't able to get the Nosler BTs so will be going back to them when I reload my next batch of ammo.

For what it's worth, I had a 1:8 twist 243 (a Ruger M77 Mk2 VT) which I sold because it was doing too much damage to roe carcasses due to the combination of higher velocity, faster spin & lighter bullet construction - that was shooting federal 100gn soft points.

never got on with the BT. Always found them messy. That’s why I stuck with the GK

150gr Sierra ProHunters in my 1:11" twist, 57cm barrel. On Fallow as we don't have Roe down under. Will be using these until either they or me are no longer available :)

Cheers

Nosler 125gr BT were very effective before switching to Copper, now using Virtus Precision 125gr Ospreys. Fantastic projectile and minimal carcass damage.:)
