338`s wish pick one.

I’ve only shot the 338 Laupa. In terms of aesthetic beauty it is between that and Edge, however the shoulder angle of the Laupa is much more handsome, even if it is old fashioned engineering.

I’ve had several 338 Federals and liked the cartridge quite a bit . Also had a Ruger #1B in 338 Win Mag. Never owned one but I worked up loads for a couple 338 Ultra’s as well as one 338 Lapua . Always wanted a 338-06 but never got one .

had a lapua and a 338 win mag

would be the edge or the titan if i did it again but case availability for the titan might be an issue , always fancied one of lazzeronis creations !

I had a .338 Win Mag, that was alright. To be honest I prefer my .35 Whelen, it's less punchy in the shoulder and I'm not a long range shooter to need that performance. If I was to get another it would be a Federal or '06 but it's a number my local force really aren't on board with.

Very happy with my .338 Federal. When first launched Federal were boasting it had the muzzle energy of a 7 Mag which is probably stretching the truth a little but it is a very good pig gun with plenty of punch

You also missed the 8.5x63 Reb met a hunter on Tuesday he only uses it and leaves all his others in the cabinet. There is only one case maker SHM they are near to me. It started off as a rimmed case based on the 7x65R the rimless came a little later. The case was straightened up to get more of a grip on the sidewalls when firing which reduced the pressure landing on the case head area.

Its energy figures are ordinary.

You also missed the 8.6Blk, a dedicated subsonic type round. Would be fantastic for deer species inside a couple hundred meters. I agree with whats been said above, a big one and a small one would be ideal. The Lapua is an easy choice as it it very common, or perhaps the 338 Win.
