That single square bridge is particularly special and lingering on rare. Really nice rifle and build, deserves a proper restocking job if it’s in the budget. Hopefully the bolt handle hasn’t been butchered

That stock could easily be reshaped to be a bit more Rigby esq. for a start change the recoil pad for a silvers type red rubber, reshape the cheek piece and pistol grip. Slim down the forend to a round / oval shape with Buffalo horn foreend tip. And get rid that horrible dark finish and give in a proper London oil type finish. And put front sling on a barrel band.

Wow - that has immense pedigree and the fundamentals of a very special rifle. Waffenfabrik sidewall puts it pre 1920s - maybe pre ww1, can you get a build date off Rigby? Who’s doing the barrel work? That action is extremely desirable, got any pics of the bolt? Is it matching? Those horrible scope bases are way out of place, please change them! And that abomination of a stock needs some heavy timber removal to bring it back to a Rigbyesque shape - everything HeymSR20 says, but also the forestock should be quite short.

The action and bottom metal are the special pieces here, I’d personally say it’s worth throwing £3k at stocking and proper bluing, otherwise you might as well grab an old Parker hale action 
Do you know how rare those bits are? I am very surprised Rigby’s or Joel Dorleac didn’t get their mitts on them before you, a wealthy Texan would have spent £50-£75k on a project by rigby or dorleac using those parts, I guarantee it.

I know exactly who bought it in 1908, Gordon Frank Melles, killed at Gallipoli 1915 age 30, I. have a copy of Rigby's Ledger page, its all matching numbers. Re-barrel first then address the stock

You can be assured that Mike will treat it with the fullest of detail in the work that has now started.
I did think it was an overreach shooting all those bunnies with it.
