For Sale: .410 Rook Rifle

Looking at the first pic I was getting excited about this as it's the same action as a lovely little H&H rook rifle I've got & quite fancied it.

Then I saw the second pic & the totally ruined turned down barrel 😢

GLWTS 👍

Might it not have been built with an octagonal-to-round barrel originally?
Very unlikely as the rifles barrel would have some ‘file cutting’ along the flat to reduce glare. Most likely turned down when bored out to .410 to make the barrel lighter.

I do have an original rook rifle with a round barrel, two in fact, but they were made that way & one has a flat along the top of the barrel file cut.

No, but 22 Hornet certainly or 222 rimmed, which is possible. But you would need to see a smith of experience - I have seen them done on similar action for the 222r.
Personally I would happily convert for 22 H.

Funny you should say that though!!!
I did look at using the 222r case with a 6mm or 6.5mm bullet. 6x45 ISH...
Don't tell me it didn't cross your mind,, 🤔😉🙂

If your Rook rifle has Birmingham proof marks it’s probably been made by Webley, they made rifles for most of the big names apart from Westley Richards who built their own in house.

It does have Birmingham proof marks. But we can't work out any more than that. It does have this patent number on the tables which I can not find anything out about - if anyone has any ideas?
