4x4 vehicle

Depends how off road you need to go and what you need to carry about. I have a 2011 Toyota Rav diesel and it does me fine for driving on hill roads and across fields etc, but never tested it in a mud bath. I'm looking for another one (one of the the last before they went hybrid), but from down south, as the amount of road salt the council uses up here means motors rust for fun underneath. Anyway, that's an aside, we've had 2 Ravs already and they have been comfortable, reliable and reasonably economical, compared to bigger 4x4s/pickups.

I’ve just got a 2008 rav 4. I find it good enough on tracks, fields and the like. Get 40 plus mpg and it’s bloody comfy to sit in

Worlds your oyster. Jimny? Freelander? New land cruiser? Are you using it hard off road or not?

Do you need an actual 4x4 or are you happy with the performance off road the Navara gives you? Edit - I ask because there aren't many true 4x4 vehicles from factory, I can only think of a handful
The older Defenders being in that category.
Ken.

This snow this year is much deeper than the last lot, had to engage hill descent in the Jimny this morning.
All mod cons!

Keep looking at the new jimny. I've heard there's a bolt on supercharger kit also available for them so they've got a bit more poke... Should pull 33's well with that on 😂
What's the traction control like on them?

If I got one wheel of my Defenders off the ground, it was going nowhere.
Ken.
Exactly. Even the disco 2 didn't have that issue,.the traction control would lock the opposite up and give drive. They were unfortunately quite clunky though in use. The newer defender and RR gets around the use of diff locks well as the traction system is so quick to work and allows it to be cross axled, even on both axles but still gives drives without the clunking

I have Yokohama AT tyres that i run all year round. Its not a full on off roader, but i have had it up some steep forest tracks.
Big inside with the rear seats down, it wont break the sound barrier but im a plodder these days!
I believe the new versions are petrol and hybrid only.
