You will find 120gn Barnes are not as good as 100gn Barnes for larger animals as velocity beats weight in energy transfer. Personally I think you can’t beat yew tree for terminal performance and accuracy. Deadly and accurate… as this 110kg stag will attest to23981D8B-A96A-4C6C-876B-DCBE5EAD330F.webp

He's shooting a 6.5x284 so 100gn Barnes will be fairly whipping along! I've guess 3,400-3,500fps? I ran some 95gn GS Customs in my 6.5-284 for a while but at >3,550fps, terminal performance was not subtle and the '284 does have the reputation of being a bit of a barrel burner anyway.

Appreciate the GS bullet is of different construction but I find the 120gn Barnes is a better option in '284 (over N165 for me with velocity around 3,150fps)

Having tried 120 gr Barnes TTSX and 100 gr Barnes TTSX in my 260 Rem, I've settled on 100gr. Mostly used for roe stalking.

Hello mate, how quickly do you push those?
And are you seeing a lot of carcass damage from them (if they're impacting very fast)?
