6.5 PRC LOAD DATA

Case capacity is about the same as a 6.5 Rem Mag. Usable case capacity (volume behind loaded bullet) is about 62.5 grains of water

Being a new cartridge, load data is scarce on the ground. Hodgdon give load data for 140 grain bullets. But you might not find the powders they list in the UK.

You could give P-Max a run around the block to find some suitable powders that would be available near you. In the Vhitavouri range, N165 and N560 look like good powders, giving good working pressures at near 100% filled case. In the Chemie-Swiss range, RS76 looks like the best powder in that regard.

CIP maximum average working pressure is 4400 bar, (compared to 308 Win at 4150 bar for example), so you should be able to drive it pretty hard - so long as the action is up to the job...

Is any one reloading with the above that could give me a some load info please
Looking to use 140gr heads
Reload Swiss gave me load data for the new RS76 for 300 prc. Just go on the site & input the details listed. They will mail it to you.

My 6.5PRC load development has been with Barnes 120gr ttsx projectiles.

I note that the Hornady powder table above mostly quotes US powders, not all of which may be available here.

But I see that [UK available] Viht N160 is a close match to H1000 quoted above in terms of burn rate.

It certainly gives the Barnes 120gr viable MV at a charge weight of 50gr in my rifle:

FYI : Dominik Antenen from Reload Swiss kindly delivered me, in the middle of 2020, powder loads & recommandation for my 6.5PRC, with RS76. That's absolutely not an issue for them.
Best regards.
RS76 Best suited for 300PRC aswell.
They make powders for other manufacturers & priduced/sold recipe to Vit 👍

N565 is also excellent for the 6.5PRC (as well as the new N568). For target shooting I'm personally using the Lapua Scenar 139grains with 58.5grains of N565 - the load shows a nice & regular 1/2MOA at 100 meters (Vo=937m/s in a 24" barrel 1-8").
The RS76 with the monometallic bullets ( hunting) 120 & 128 grains seems to be the most appropriate powder with similar performance. At least in my rifle (Sako S20).
