6.5CM bump/neck sizing advice

Hi,

I have recently re-educated myself since I have been neck sizing for all my reloading days.

Certain dies seem hard to come by at the moment but I have got my hands on a Lyman 3 die set, Forster bump neck sizing die (no bushings) and a Lee collet die. I can’t find bushings anywhere for the Forster bump die…

My current plan is to bump the shoulder back with the Forster die and then size the neck using the Lee collet. Does anyone have advice with using this method or if it would be better to Just use the Lyman full length die with a bump on that.

waiting on a Hornady headspace gauge coming before I can get started but just still getting my head round things

Use the chamber as your guide.

Set to a resistance free bolt close with firing pin removed from bolt.
So by bumping back until just enough headspace for no resistance, is this what your meaning?
Also what does the firing pin being removed gain if it’s fired brass/decapped,

Firing pin removed as without it you can feel resistance of the bolt closing, with it in you will get interference from the spring, cocking cam and trigger interfacing with each other.

Never hurts to have a wee bit more than the much heralded 'two thousands'.

You won't see any accuracy improvement (most factory ammo, even 'Match' stuff, is massively undersized to accomodate all chambers) and I lose brass quite often before it wears out... very unbecoming to see a grown man scrambling around for a scrap of brass, even if it is Lapua!

Just set the full length die up and go shoot.

Must admit I’m partial to scrambling around for Brass after the heat of the moment.🤣
Never knew that re the firing pin and certainly never removed one so that’s some homework for the weekend👍

I’m a 4-5 thou bump man myself 2- 3 thou is pretty annoying in a hunting round as any little bits of grime make it difficult to chamber
