What barrel length? This is in my rifle maybe different in yours, so work up, 38.5 gr, 100% powder burn , 2702fps

very good, as people say, not the fastest, but consistent and what I love about Vit powder, very clean burning.and how are the results ?![]()
22What barrel length?
after reading this the other day it prompted me to have a play with these loads. I also have 26" barrel on my AI, I can load these bullets long, so ive upped the powder charge slightly. COAL 2.890" 45.5g N160 with average speed 2921 fps with a spread of 6fps over 6 rounds. THIS IS OVER MAX LOAD LISTED IN VIT DATA, BUT I HAVE WORKED UP TO THIS!! and with the bullet way longer than SAAMI COAL allowing additional powder. do NOT start at this load!!!and how are the results ?![]()

That seems pretty stout - that load is Viht’s max for a 123gns bullet.I run 46.8g of n160 pushing a 130grn tmk out my 6.5x55 r8
Accuracy is spot on
This load was worked up for me by a professional
Never had a issue in 7 years and probably fired just short of 1k through it
None at all, but as I say I’m loading to within 8thou of rifling, giving a long bullet and obviously more cavity behind it. Loaded COAL 2.890. I tried 5 rounds at 46, and although still no signs of pressure, the spread was close to 30fps, with 45.5 I’m getting 6!That seems pretty stout - that load is Viht’s max for a 123gns bullet.
I use 45gns of N160 for the same bullet and was getting pressure signs at 45.5; interested to hear if you are seeing any bolt swipe marks, flattened primers etc…

Something else to add here, to anyone else who might read this thread! these are lead bullets not copper!!!

look within the online data across the board for the similar weight and work the load up looking for pressure sign . As you are working up from lighter loads and checking pressure sign you will be fine , if you don't understand get experienced help .Sorry no. I am copperfree thus far….

And don’t start to close to the rifling to start withlook within the online data across the board for the similar weight and work the load up looking for pressure sign . equal weight to lead with copper is fine so long as you start at the start load . I find this totally fine with modern copper bullet design
