6.5mm TTSX / H4350 load recommendation please?

Evening – looking for some recommendations please.

Rifle is 6.5x47L with a 20” barrel that loves Nosler BT 120gr over H4350 at c2631 fps.

I have plenty of H4350 and am looking to load TTSX 100gr or 120gr as a trial.

Does anyone have a starting load recommendations for either of the TTSX please ?
Or a velocity recommendation to aim for with 6.5mm TTSX (I will play with Quickload) - but wanted some recommended start points.

Thanks in advance.

I was running 41.0gr of RL15 under the 100 TTSX. 0.080" off the lands. CCI BR primers. Lapua brass. Av 3263fps in 26" barrel with ES of 22 on 5 shot group measuring 0.4"

Worked very well on Muntjac, Roe and Fallow. Never tried it on Sika or Red.

Normal rules. Never believe any **** giving you load data on the internet and work it up carefully yourself.

I just looked on the load data for Creedmore' TTSX and your powder H4350.
100gn-------min 42.5gn-------2908------------Max 47.2--------3221.
120gn-------min 38.2gn-------2647------------Max 42.5--------2870

bc.

I have loaded a 6.5x47 with the 100g TTSX using a faster powder than H4350 (99% sure it was N140) and it has proved very effective on the Roe we have shot with them. With the relatively low case volume of the 47 I would possibly go to a faster powder than H 4350 (as I see Nigel has done with Re15), especially where your barrel is short and there is a need for velocity to ensure proper bullet performance. I would be looking for over 3000fps before using this bullet on deer.

Thanks - that's useful. I had thought that I would need to be pushing them faster - I note that N140 and RL15 are slightly faster - a step up but not a big step - https://www.1967spud.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/burnrate-chart.png.

I have found the H4350 very consistent and reliable to date - hence thinking of sticking with it (yes I know it's no longer available - but I have several tubs)!

In my mind - for the TTSX I should be around the 3000fps starting point. Time to start playing with QUickload....

I looked but only saw standard 100gr generic data - Reloading Data Center Sorry - I should have said - could only see current powders not H4350 on the Hodgdon site now.

What I failed to mention looking back on the load data is that using RL15 at 3260 fps the barrel gave up after 1500 rounds with the lands having taken a 0.120" hammering. Wasn't just the TTSX that was shot through it so I can't blame the copper bullets, I just had it on max pressure and barrels don't last long when loaded to max. 3000/3100 fps would see much better barrel life.

So playing with Quickload and H4350/100gr TTSX is not going to get me to 3000fps.
Looks like it will have to be N140 for which 40.1gr gets me to 2998fps with my setup and is under max load.

This link you provided took me right to it.
And yes: Generic bullet weight is all you are going to get. Starting at minimum charge, as you always should, will get you by the construction differences....
Hold that! I just rechecked. H4350 isnt listed for the 100 grain! Sorry. Use the charge for the 123 and work up?~Muir

Thanks Muir - I think I have convinced myself to move to N140 otherwise I am hust not going to be close to 3000fps with H4350.
Probably start a new post entitled "6.5x47mm TTSX / N140 load recommendation please?" !!
Thanks all - think this adventure with TTSX and H4350 is over, I have a great load with the 4350 / Nosler 120gr BT - which I can always fall back on, but will start the N140/100gr TTSX journey as well.
