I haven’t used them on deer in 6.5 after trying the same type through my 270 96gr at 3400fps I won’t be using them again . Very effective but very messy. Very expensive target/foxing loads

Vihtavuori doesnt list alot of options for the 6.5x55, the lightest they list is a 85gr varmint bullet that doesnt come close to these velocities. I wonder how mutch they lowball pressure.
Honestly having been around many of them i would say even the old m96 can handle quite a bit more pressure than people say if in good condition. That ofcourse being the big question. In a CZ550 also chambered for 30-06 and with almost the same bolt thrust surface i would think 60.000psi isnt out of reach.
Il try how mutch i can push the RWS, compare it to Fox and peregrine 100gr. Should be interesting. Peregrines might really benefit from it at longer range.

well Norma has some pretty healthy loads for the swede. 3400 something as max with an 85 gr and 3200ish with a 100 grn. Here you go:

I currently dont load enough new stuff to justify a membership at this moment but I would be interested to know how mutch VV lowballs. Whats it saying about lapua 100gr FMJ for instance? VV gives it 973m/s max with n540

Below are the xxlrealoading loads for Lapua fmj 100 gr for the 6.5x55 sorted by velocity for all the listed powders, and for viht only as well.
I couldnt see a load for the 6.5tx55 using the peregrine vlr4 100 gr on their list. I believe all the loads listed are set a default under min 10 % under max pressure

In the norma link i think they have data for a 85 gr ( a bird load, perhaps?) and i think the max velocity given is 3400 fps or something around there
I believe hornady makes a 90 grn copper projectile that they claim was created especially with the 6.5 grendel in mind, but i would assume that one can also load it in other 6.5s (everybody should check this out for themselves though!). Anywho, that could also make for one mighty fast light deer or fox etc copper load.
