6mmbr trimming

Hi there, I’ve just acquired a new to me 6mm Br Norma, i would usually just go out and buy Lee pilots for trimming to length but there don’t seem to be any, I was wondering if anyone has any cost effective ways of doing this as the thought of having to spend £100s is not my idea of a good time.

I know that cost effective and 6mmBr aren’t exactly synonyms but there must be a way.
Thanks,
Jake

I do know a mate, who is a self confessed cheapskate, he claims he uses a cutter in the press simply on the size of bore, so , a 6.5 55 or creedmore, 260 etc , can , apparently , be cut with the same tool ..............Im guessing you would still need the "body " to hold the brass, never tried it myself as i use trimmer that fits on my cordless drill.

i have a 6mm BR and best way is using RCBs case trimmer.
I tried to find a manual one but failed
If you look on the 6mm BR website in US they might be able to help.

Use a Lee .243 trimmer with the end of the pin ground down from 2.045" to give a new length to the cutter of 1.560" (see blue arrow) = 0.485 thou.

Before splashing out I would assess whether your cases actually stretch enough to warrant trimming. I have a 6BR whose cases are on their eight reload and have not had to trim yet. Very much depends on the dimensions the chamber was cut to.

Pretty sure when I got mine I had a custom length stud made for me by Lee, did the same for the 6.5x47 Lapua.

However, in the past I have taken over length but correct diameter length studs & shortened them for some of my historic cartridges. If I recall the length studs are just mild steel & I’ve reduced their size by cutting them roughly to length with a hacksaw then putting them in a drill chuck & filing them down while the drill is turning. More than adequate for what I was doing but maybe not so good with a 6mmBR.

Any case trimmer that has a cutter with different sized spuds & can be adjusted to length should be fine. I now use this for any large reductions I’m doing to case length, but still use the Lee system for everyday case prep.
