80 gr 0.243 and N140

Anyone using the above?

Picking up a 0.243 next week which will mainly be for foxing with 75 gr v-max but will also sort a 80 gr yew tree load, I have a pound or so of N140 that I am unlikely to use for anything else and Vihts data lists 3100-250 fps for 77/80gr bullets so could do the trick.

I realise I could launch them faster with a slower, more suitable powder but, I'm sending 80 gr TTSX out of the 25-45 sharps at 3150 fps and they kill roe and muntjac just fine so I don't need a whole lot of speed.

Had a play with quick load, albeit with using the standard parameters for length and volume. It looks like N140 could spike quite quickly and will not be the best case full so may use RL19 or super performance. If I do give it a go I’ll keep the thread posted

I bought some superperformance in the end, giving me 3300 fps.

Now planning on using the N140 under 100 gr hollow points in the 6.5x55z

N140 with 75/87 V max is my go too load in .243.

use vit 140 with 74gr PB bullets no bother at all fills the case just right unlkie vit 160 you have to tamp it down to get any sort of speed using the lighter bullets
