8k to spend on a rifle: high end custom rifle or blaser R8?

I could live with a Blaser for stalking and short range plinking. To be fair @Norway seems to do alright a bit further out with them 😉

The Blaser works for sure, just apply basic marksmanship. That episode and 369 should have a ton of pointers.

When I see how much £££ I've sunk into my Rem700 and just approaching the overall reliability of my Blaser... Build on Tikka instead?

Member Tikka 260 is selling the very rifle right now in Classifieds.
Look no further.

Ps. For much less money!

Iv had them all and tbh the r8 does every thing you could ever want retains good money and works Stright off the shelf I still own a full custom Borden alpine after regretting selling it but they are definitely not as ergonomic or as practical as a blaser for my culling work in my opinion but it’s each to there own

Full custom if you have 8K to spend. You get exactly what you want and since the demise of the R93's ( which were fantastic - a friend had one, my god what an accurate gun!) Blasers are designed for hunting so dependant on what you are doing with it a custom rifle is probably going to be better for your purpose anyway. Blaser guns are overpriced and not as well made as they used to be. Any custom made gun made by a decent gunsmith will be better as no compromises will be made to your spec.

You might have problems, but it seems money isn’t one of them. I would look for a minty 1960s or early 1970s Sako Finnbear in the caliber that you fancy. With the $6k you had left over, you could then buy a very fine German scope. You might even have enough left over to pay for a plane ticket to Africa. If you don’t t like that idea, look for a gently used Holland & Holland in your favorite caliber.
