Mine was a Husky. Is the one you're looking at a 96 or a 98?Thank you - the inevitably cheap husqvarna has popped up and they look ace. I’ve been wanting a Mauser based husky for a while.

That is a 96 , I have one exactly like it , it's also known as a Model 46 or 46A . There are slight differences between the two , but I can't remember what they are . The 98 actioned rifles were Model 47s . There has always been some debate over the 96 strength wise . The 98 definitely handles case failure better because of the flange on the bolt shroud , but it isn't that much stronger than the 96, especially if it's a small ring 98 like the Husky . Norma didn't differentiate between the two , so make of it what you will . I never load mine to max anyway . It's a very good large game cartridge and not fussy to reload either . I've used a few over the last 30 years or so .
But did i misread or does the 9,3x57 have a (cip i think) max pressure of only 43.511 psi?No I really liked it, but decided I should have a big bore again.
I now have the big bore, and it has dawned on me that a medium would have been better what with copper coming in
The 9.3x57 is a good round, especially in a 98 rather than a 96 as you can load it up a bit more.
Yep, i could definitely see it being good for that. It is likely quite useful in shorter barrels too.Definitely a great caliber for most things I’ve got 62 and 74 would love a 57 for running sub loads
Me and you both mate! Especially one of the factory made short barreled model 1600s would be most welcome in my gun closet in 9,3x57 or 8x57.Thank you - the inevitably cheap husqvarna has popped up and they look ace. I’ve been wanting a Mauser based husky for a while.
Such a cool cartridge! How is it to shoot surpressed and unsupressed , and do you think most hunters would be able to handle it well unsurpressed, or simply more likely end up of disliking it, unless they spend a lot of time training? As Honestjohn wrote, the 9,3x62 And the wheelan) is a lot of boom, after all.I have the 35 Whelen conditioned for deer (AOLQ) which is not far behind the ballistics of the 9.3X62, so I don't see why not.

An Official Journal Of The NRA | Head to Head: .35 Whelen vs. 9.3x62mm Mauser
The .35 Whelen and the 9.3x62mm Mauser have cases within a millimeter in length and a bullet diameter just a few thousandths apart, so which cartridge would a hunter choose?www.americanhunter.org

hahaha, yep, with that hat you'll definitely look ready for some good recoil, and some good hunting ,D Sounds like your wheelan build will be relatively compact rifle, then ?I've yet to shoot the 35 Whelen as the "build" is in progress c/o SD's Dasherman. With regard to use of a moderator this is in no way part of my plan as it would totally mess up the balance and fast-handling of a close quarters woodland fallow basher.
I do however have the only type of hat one is permitted to wear when shooting said cartridge!

Not to start with as there's a c18-month wait for the stock I want made, so I'm leaving the barrel at 24" for now and sticking the M98 action in a GRS stock.hahaha, yep, with that hat you'll definitely look ready for some good recoil, and some good hunting ,D Sounds like your wheelan build will be relatively compact rifle, then ?
What a nice offer by you, chapeau, sir!The 9.3 is very manageable
Practice would be more expensive if you don’t reload
However, practice with any rifle / calibre combo is essential
Not comfortable shooting off the bench but I don’t think, whilst stalking, you will remember any recoil off sticks or even off a rest over the bonnet off the landie
So that is where practice should be concentrated
I have found it a 0 to 150m calibre
Not one for long range

Ps
Should anyone wish to try it, I’d be happy to accommodate them for the price of the ‘bang’
If i didnt live way too far away, i would have taken you up on that. Out of interest, did you ask for it to be used on UK deer and/or wild boar?Kent granted my 375 Holland and Holland magnum, but will not allow me to shoot anything live with it.
