A big investment - gulp! Hope I’m right....

What’s the main use of the rifle ? - range ? Deer ? Vermin?
secondary use or would like to use also for .... range, deer etc

calibre ?

got the same rifle as you, about 6 months ago, .308, was not my normal type of gun with the big magazine, but I love it , so accurate and confident with it, will not be changing it.

Cant see why there would be anything wrong with that set up at all, wont be very light but should shoot well.

Decent components, decent calibre - should do you a job.

Stainless CTR are fantastic, on my second one in 308. Most accurate factory rifle I ever had. As scope I chose a S&B Ultra Short 3-20x50 PMII with Spuhr mounts. A very reliable ultra sturdy scope that will take some knocks, lock turrets and 3-20 is ideal for hunting.

Like others have said I think the scope is over specced,

Go for Swarovski by all means their glass is first class, but I use Z4i on my main stalking rifle (also in .308) it's 3-12 x 50 and does everything I need it to.

The money you save on your scope you might want to put into a Sako 85......that's my personal preference but it's your call.

All the other kit choices are spot on.

Can’t fault the setup. I bought a second hand s&b 8x56 years ago and haven’t had any need to change it,(have thought about it). Entirely up to you where you spend your money but a decent fixed scope will also work nicely.

Don’t have a Tika but do have a Swaro Z6i and 2 Z8’s both are 2.3 x 18 x 56 I rarely use them on 18 but useful in Africa/Namibia and occasionally over here. My advice would be get the 2.3 x 18 x 56 as opposed to the one you are targeting you don’t need that much mag plus the 56 gives better low light transmission. Other opinions will be available

Your choices seem sensible for someone starting out. You don’t really say what sort of shooting you’ll be doing so it’s hard to give you an opinion. If you are going to do open hill stalking or African safari shooting then the Swaro would be ideal giving you that extra reach. If you’re shooting UK woodland margins you’re probably not really going to use that scope to it’s full potential.

So, a couple of things here, your intro suggests an experienced stalker with a decade of experience, in which case this thread sounds more like willy waving than asking advice, surely you know what kit does what and what’s good or not..... then there’s the highly cynical thought that all this gear will be up for sale in about 9 posts.....? Either way, I’ve lost the point of this thread, but can’t wait to see your 31st.....
By the way, when you reply to a post quoting the post, it’s customary to actually add something by way of response..... not simply repost someone else’s comment....

He's burying the response within the quoted text, not above/below as per the norm
