A good cleaning rod - which one ?

Hello All ,

I bought a cleaning rod in haste and as it turns out it's just not long enough , it also has the plastic coating which i am not keen on , so can anyone advise of a good one that is... one piece ,steel with good handle that would do my .243 , also best place that stocks them

Reloading solutions stock a good number of rods. If you use a bore guide dont forget to alow a bit more length
when getting a rod.

Yeh Jay , i forgot to take the bore guide into account when i bought the rod......lol , i will check Reloading solutions to see what they have

I totally agree with finnbear and the best one to buy is a "Tipton", i use them in shotgun and rifle.

Actually, I take it all back. I think my PH rods are steel underneath the attractive coloured plastic.

We've already solved the problem with overpriced "stalking bipod sticks".

B&Q garden canes are the obvious solution, or do we have kit tarts here?

Pro shot rods for me.
Plastic covered and carbon will pick up contaminates from the bore, which will be abrasive.
Polished s/steel will last pretty much forever, or untill you bend it.

carbon fibre tipton for me. Excellent bits of kit.

Tipton carbon fibre are are best,As advised by a few riflesmiths.
The plastic coated can get ingress of carbon etc from the barrel.

Hi Red Dot,

After viewing the photos on your gallery.
I was interested to know what the swarvoski item was and I see you have a landrover defender.
Was thinking of getting one and interested to know what miles to the gallon would you get on it and what type of engine would that be?
Also is their any Land Rover dealers around your area and would do a good deal?
