a review of my new Fallow/Sika sack

hello all
after having a guts full of dragging, humping, carrying in all manner of ways the small amount of fallow deer i sometimes manage to get off the little bit of land i have permission to shoot, i thought i would get a Roe type sack big enough to put a Fallow deer in to carry out.

i put a post on here about what i wanted and was directed towards "poppings " aka Sylvia after a some pleasant emails and phone calls expressing what i wanted she handmade me my Fallow/Sika sack.

to say i am impressed is an understatment it is 100% what i wanted and the "build quality" is outstanding , from the washable good heavy duty removable lining, the non rustle outer shell to the great quality robust leatherwork on the straps ,buckles and the price ,will make this a sack to last me a life time.

the sack open is large but folds down surprisingly small and fitted in the horizontal pocket that runs along my stalking coat (this made a great padded seat as well) no trouble

i had a Fallow doe this saturday (60 lbs larder weight ) and it easly fitted into the sack, i carried it out approx 1.5 mile over fields woods and slopes the sack worked a treat and has been the easiest extraction i have had on my own by far.

i have no connection with "poppings"aka Sylvia or any members on here (i have never meet any SD members yet :( ) but feel that the product she produced is very worthy of a mention

regards....neil

hi Neil
what a great write up, as you know i was also impressed by Sylvia's handy work
here are a few pics i posted on the tread in GD
hope they help with your write up ;)
a sika sack, can quite easily take 2 Roe or a Fallow /Sika i also reckon a Red hind would fit ;)
using a couple of Roe for the demo as the Fallow weren't playing ball :)

also has a washable and removeable liner

just so you can see it can cope
another thing i use is a Yule sack,
rolls up small enough to put in a pocket
DSCN0625.jpg

and works a bit like this, carry straps on one side

size comparison next to average size Fallow pricket

the straps need a bit more adjustment to sit it higher up the back
a darnsite better than dragging them ;)

Thanks for posting the pics stone. Also thanks for the write up GF, very useful indeed. I may well try one of these for myself.

Regards

six of the best in an ikea bag

Hi Gary

Do you not find they get a bit hot when crammed in like that?

I have been trying to find some sort of arrangement that will allow me to let the rabbits cool in stead of piling them up in the front box when lamping with the quad. 30-40 dead rabbits generate a fair bit of heat by the end of the session.
