A sad sign of the Times

Or you could listen to what Purdey themselves said about it. Telegraph head/subline

"King Charles’s gun maker says Brexit is keeping a cap on sales
James Purdey & Sons warns of ‘difficult market conditions’ following referendum"
It also mentions tightening of gun ownership laws in the EU, EU sanctions against Russia closing that market off but hey Brexits fault.
Britain should have changed direction after Brexit, it was an opportunity to do so but instead politicians have spent a decade fighting the people's will and now we have nothing to offer apart from woke/trans climate propaganda.
Another quote " a significant drop in European sales despite strong UK & US sales"

Britain should have changed direction after Brexit, it was an opportunity to do so but instead politicians have spent a decade fighting the people's will and now we have nothing to offer ........
No doubt there is some truth in this but at the risk of yet another early 2026 SD bun fight, I've yet to see a coherent explanation of what BREXIT was intended to deliver beyond enhanced sovereignty. Something that seems to have stalled, if indeed it ever got off the starting block.

for me it was to avoid the impending train smash that the EU project is becoming. In the early days when just uk germany france spain italy and the like were in it as more or less similar economies and polices it might have made sense. Now there is no way the single policies of the increasingly autocratic leadership of the EEC will fit the diversity of countries now in it from Germany to some of the more 3rd world basket case countries

UK had the best gunmaking tecnology in the world in the 1880s and rich people who could spend it on the new developed guns.

Must admit i dont kbow anything about Purdeys modern range.
Does it make quite a few O/Us?

Despite being a SS shooter their days really are numbered.
A few years ago a grouse moor owner i pick up for moved over to an OU and said a massive difference.
Hes lucmy enoufh to vet i vites to some decent days and the heavier gun = less recoil makes a big difference.

As for the financial climate sorry but im not buying that.
Yes for normal folk times are very hard.
But normal folk are not buying Purdeys.
The amount of yanks flying over and a heli down to shoot is unbelievable.
1 local estate alone will prob have yanks shooting 4+ days a week.
These boys are all shooting 1000 shells a day, infact the yank shooting parties will be shooting way more than that as always larger bags..

The amount of guns breaking paticularly the older guns just cant stand the battering.
Not designed for firing 1000+ shells of 36g in a day.

Their is plenty of money floating around in those sort of circles.
Purdey either has a problem with it product or not advertising to the right people
