Active ear defenders - Cens alternatives?

Lots of good info gents; thanks very much.

Summary seems to be ditch the high maintenance CENS Proflex.

Peltor EEP -100s are great value for money, and may well work even better when combined with either CENS Mino tips, or Peltor Skull Screw Comms Tip.

Any other thoughts appreciated.

Earshotcommunications also do them and have been consistently lower priced than anywhere else for the LEP versions.

Earshot work out more expensive with post.

But to be fair it’s a few quid. Just go with whoever had stock.

Big cans are perfect for clays, but for stalking and walked up I thought I'd try 'in ear' active ear defenders, however I'm thoroughly fed up with my Cens Pro Flex ear defenders.

Despite spending a small fortune on them in 2015, I've never got on really well with them - Fiddly, no proper on /off switch etc.

I had them brought back to life last year for £80, and the left ear was never right.

Now they want another £80 to put that right - and when I groaned - was told I should expect to service them annually!

Surely things have moved on, and there are now better options; has anybody got any recommendations? Peltor?
I have the Cens ear plugs also a pair of Sordin Pro x defenders and the Sordin beat the Cens hands down for noise reduction they also have a good range for amplifying sound and with the gel pads are very comfortable and do not interfere with the gunstock either. TBH I hardly ever use the Cens any more unless maybe its going to be a long warm day.

I would recommend ordering one of the neck cords at the same time so you don't need to worry so much about loosing one or dropping in water.
Search for "peltor tep-cord".

That may be one of the reasons for the LEP /EEP price difference, a neck loop iwas included with my LEPs. I found they were so secure I my ears that I have not used it. I never take them out until the reason fro wearing them is passed. I have been driving g the little digger today sieving compost and happen to still a e them in. Is while We are having a break for instance

Did anybody spot I had forgotten to take my glasses with me today and couldn’t see what I was writing on my phone?

It should have read “I have been driving the little digger today, sieving compost and happen to still have them in now, while we are having a break for instance.”

Have you resolved your issues with the LEP's? Have you found any tips which have worked for you?

Yours was the only negative experience with them I have come across so far.

Alan
I'm gonna re-visit them as only last week I established my ears were FULL of wax! And I do mean FULL! Cost me £XXX for micro suction but worth every penny as now they've been de-gunked I can hear again!

It may be that part of my problem with the LEP's was the tips were trying to push the wax into my ear drum which clearly would be uncomfortable and make for less than an ideal seal. We shall see.

Having read all the posts I remain where i started. For clay shooting and game shooting and any zeroing work I wear Sordin Pro over ear When stalking all my rifles have quality Mods on them and then I go unprotected it’s a calculated risk I am willing to take

An updated review would be good.

I have found lots of wax on my ear buds so it is a plausible cause of build up.

Apart from the miniaturisation, what were the other downsides of in-ear plugs you mentioned?
