Adding photos to private messages

Hi all

I can add photos to posts no issue but when talking to anyone via private messages I don’t seem to be able to attach files from my photo album on my phone like I do on a regular forum post…? Do I have to do it via a 3rd party photo sharing website like photo bucket etc? Seems odd i can do it one way but not the other

You can’t add photos directly to a PM - you can only send them as a link to a 3rd party photo hosting app.

Agreed, but it makes the owner's/moderators lives a lot easier, saves a lot of costly storage space and potentially prevents "questionable" material being shared "privately" too. @csl posted about this sometime ago in Site Help IIRC.

I did have a search for similar topics but only came across questions regarding adding pics to public posts

I am trying to attach a few pictures to a pm and have set up a photobucket account but have not a clue as to how to do the URL thing to allow the recipient to see them on the PM.

Apologies for being a bit slow on the uptake.

Any simple help would be appreciated.

Can I ask, why is it different to posting in the forums?

Because it uses up space that we have to pay for. With posts everyone can see/get value from (some of the time ) the image where as with a PM only 2 people see it. If you need to send an image to a particular person you might as well use email or a 3rd party.
