Admitting I am wrong re covid restrictions

OK, I have to acknowledge this publically. I am wrong about the imposition of any form of restrictions related to the freedom of people during covid.

Not that they are a bad idea, let's face it, I'm used to movement restrictions with animals. No. It's all because this stupid government can't manage it properly. We've been trying for the best part of a day to fill in the relevant online stuff to go to Italy. Un be feckin leivable how complex and crap it is! The passport and booking forms have all the relevant information, the Irish have an exellent cattle tracing database that could be used. But no, design their owncluster**** of a system and ensure you pay their grubby little mates for overpriced tests. I approve of the testting pre-movement, but can't I pay PHE and generate some income for the health services instead?

PS Just in case anyone thinks I've had a funny turn,
The vaccines work.
Wormers don't work
Being sensible in one's contacts reduces transmission, that includes distancing and masks.

Some restrictions would have been fine. But sensibly chosen, consistently applied, well managed and corruption free - not what we got!

Can you repost it with the above in large bold as a few of the un-washed need larger font.

Hope the snow is firm if you make it to the black run... :tiphat:

Tell me about it. I went on business to Oman in March ostensibly for a couple of months. Couldn't get back until last month. Need to go again in January. Expecting to either not be able to or if I do manage to get there to be stuck again !

Brother-In-Law off to France too for some ⛷ and subject to the same Christmas quiz-like questions and tests to be taken with military precision & timing.

K

Today just about sums up the cockwombles running the show. We have all learned the best way of avoiding the spread of the virus is to avoid mixing people, and as far as possible avoid people touching same objects etc.

So Booster Vaccination. In Edinburgh the local vacination centres have been largely closed. And of course GP practices couldn’t possibly provide vaccines to their own patient group.

So we all travel out to the Vaccination centre at the Highland show ground. Good traffic jams on the way as there is very little public transport options (and Edinburgh City Council wants us all to give up our cars). Then stand in queue outside waiting to get in.

The stand in a long zig zag queue waiting to get registered. A quick count - probably 300 standing in a queue inside.

Finally get registered and then are lines of chairs side by side and you are supposed to sit down on the back pair, and then when the front of the queue goes for their jab, everybody stands up and moves to the row in front of them and then dits down. And then a few minutes later it repeats.

And this is an NHS Scotland vaccination centre.

In other words you mixing from all over central Scotland and making play musical chairs inside a building.

I stood and shuffled forward, and it took nearly two hours, because most of the vaccination booths were unmanned.

And yet they were only letting those had vaccination appointments into the building - but that of course would not give any indication of demand.

But I am totally stupid, CoVid of course knows that its not allowed into any Government meetings or vaccination centres.

And the Scottish Government advised schools not to allow delayed leavers balls (with 150 people) to happen this weekend, nor to have Christmas parties.

I worked out a while ago that the restrictions are deliberately complex specifically to encourage you to give up and stay home.
But it’s purely down to Brexit that every state in Europe has its own individual set of restrictions.
You started it 🤠🤠

The madness of crowds, in a nutshell.

Four months back, 125 million in Japan (including the Tokyo health minister) decided to go the ‘wormer’ route, I’m sure against the OP‘s ‘better’ judgement. Right now they have about 100 cases daily, in double our entire UK population. Remind me how we here are doing, daily case wise? I‘m sure there must be a Japanese saying for this type of behaviour…🤔

BTW, whatever made anyone think that ‘vaccinating‘, using proven-to-be-ineffective against omicron variant ‘vaccine‘ was a worthwhile use of anyones time - weren’t the vectors of the piece jabbed when they got on the plane from SA? 🤔

Iverbiggun…..
Ah - that Ivermectin stuff - been approved as a human medicine long before vets were giving it to Dobbin the Donkey, or was that Muffin the Mule ? (Which is in no way connected to the 2020 Downing St Xmas Party back garden challenge that never happened as nobody in Westminster would ever break the laws of the land...!)

Muffin the Mule is illegal in most countries. Ivermecting was licensed for animals in 1981 and only applied to humans lin 1988. Not many drugs take that route!

Must be Scotland.

Our GP practice, who administered both initial jabs, organised the booster jabs with the same clinical precision. Mrs Gunn and I had appointments at 2pm and were both sitting waiting the requisite 15 minutes after the Pfizer jab at 2:05pm.

Blimey I would have given up turned round and gone home. like willie_gunn, waited about five minutes from appointment time, name etc checked then jabbed, sit for fifteen minutes go home.

well done NHS.

Up here GPs are not even allowed to provide advice on Covid or long covid.
