Advice on stalking trousers.

Hi guys,

I usually just wear a pair of jack Pyke trousers when I'm out stalking.

I noticed last time I was out when crawling in grass to get a shot that they were pretty loud.

Does anyone have any recommendations for good trousers that may be a bit quieter.

I like the look of the shooterking huntflex trousers, does anyone have any experience with these and how quiet or loud they may be?

All other suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks everyone 😁👍

Definitely get some, they’re a game changer, especially in the nettles; pastel shades or even camouflage patterned may/may not be less loud/obtrusive.. :coat:

I use fjallraven trousers, used to used old combats and then ridgeline trousers...these have been reserved for winter and cold weather usage.

The fjallravens although pricey are a great bit of kit. Silent, strong, wax can be applied and removed when desired

Old combat trousers or lightweights.... apart from depths of winter. Then Schoffel/Outfox, superb.

have acquired some thermal overtrousers for high seats this winter, test them out.

friends stalk in moleskins and swear by them.

I pick my days as wind and rain is not very good for deer, I have a pair of army long johns which I wear when the days tell me so. As for strides making a noise as you crawl through the grass, I was shouting at a muntjac to stop while standing which was 70 yds up wind of me in 6" grass and a stiff breeze.
I have tried various trousers but found them all to be too hot or the panelled stitching too stiff.

I like Percussion trousers. They're very reasonably priced and comfortable. If the cold gets to you in Winter, try a pair of Grand Nords. You'll be warm enough sitting in a high seat but you'll cook if you walk too far. They really are WARM :)

I will wear a lightweight pair of cotton trousers mid summer otherwise it's tweed plus fours not too hot and not fold even when wet ,not plus two's but plus fours which have a decent turn over when crawling your knees will get wet but when you stand up the wet bit will be hanging below the knee and with plus fours should shed any water on to the
ground team your plus fours with a pair of gaiters and you have the perfect solution.
Plus fours the original and still the best for stalking.

Swazi waterproof overtrousers with a thermal/baselayer underneath.

Best of both worlds for tick protection (put repellant on the outside), waterproofness and breathability.

Nearly £300 though , thank goodness mine were free!
