Sat out for several hours for 4 evenings now watching the baited spot
Is the bait disappearing? Got a camera on it?

30 acres enclosed by fence isn't a tough task to walk and find where the deer is jumping. They must leave landing slots....must! Or is it going under which I reckon it is. When you see a mature sambar stag go under a farm fence at a roo point IE where roo`s have made a slight depression under the fence you may be surprised to see how little a sika needs to go under wire.
A few dogs that know what their role is would rouse the deer.

I've shot them in the far Highlands for many years, all north of inverness.
I've also shot them in Dorset.
But I do not know if there near Biggar. Yes Ghost deer I've heard of.
Loads near Biggar. Place is lifting with them.

This evening’s dinner. Sika deer fillet and Madeira sauce, shot 5 miles from Biggar.

Well this is turning out to be a bit of a ghost deer. Sat out for several hours for 4 evenings now watching the baited spot, and no sign of him. Will leave it now until he shows up on the camera trap, in case he's jumped back out.
Camera that sends pictures to your phone at bait pile, soon as you get a ping get down there as soon as you can with someone ideally with a dog in the know and get it the wood knocked out, be done in an evening.
It might also be worth just running dogs through to establish if its actually in there.
