Air arms s410 accuracy

Hi wondered if anyone can help?
my s410 is off target by 2-3” on the first two shots after that it’s bang on again!
any suggestions?

try a different scope? mine is the most acurate gun i own, i did have a lump of lead that i think was four or five pellets moulded on top of each other from a target at twenty yards.
does it group to two points if you keep shooting?
or maybe regulator playing up at max charge

Ive noticed that the feed from one of my magazines is not very consistent (can be tough to push the bolt forward) and it deforms the pellet which causes an issue just in those shots. They are generally very accurate air rifles though

Try a single shot adapter smw do one which is brilliant and a good price too
I have one on my 410fac and on my sub 12 .

When I used to own one it was exceptionally accurate, 1 hole groups the absolute norm.

Accuracy problems were usually due to cr*p scopes.

However, shakey Jake makes a good point. The S410 isn't regulated. I once fired an entire charge over a chrono and there was a definite 'node' for the most consistent muzzle velocities. I can't remember what it was but it worked best if not quite full and if charged before it was empty, either side of that there was a definite increase and decrease in velocity, which would change POI (probably not by 2-3'' mind you).

My s410k is incredibly accurate - as, it seems, is everybody else's - and a 2" shift suggests loose mounts, or a duff scope or both. Even deformed pellets from probe not seating smoothly from the mag sounds unlikely to me, as they would almost need to get turned inside out to get that kind of shift....
As already suggested, try another scope, and make sure mounts are tight. Then they single feeding pellets if scope change doesn't fix it (a but fiddly without a tray, but can be done)

When you say - first two shots, how long has it been left before this happens? It might be that it needs a service and that dues to a lack of use, it takes a couple of shots for the mechanism to 'free up' as it were. I took mine to bits recently as it was suffering super low power even on a full charge. So I know what's inside. Drapers sorted it out for me and found the problem. I use it very very little to be frank and they actually asked me - 'does this get left for long periods without being shot?' Clearly using it regulalry does make a difference. If you are using yours every day and it does this every day then I'm barking up the wrong tree. The fact that it's bang on after these two sighters would suggest that this isn't an accuracy problem as such, it's a functioning issue.

First two shots after what? Re-charge of air? Filled magazine? Barrel clean?

If it’s after re-charge, they do change accuracy depending on where they are in the full, but 2 shots won’t make enough difference for that to be noticeable.

If it’s after filling the magazine, it could be a feed problem.

If it’s after cleaning, then a bit of lead does bring them back on, but I don’t think by 2-3 inch.

As has been said, are the scope and mounts ok? Are you resting on the barrel rather than the front of the stock?

All obvious stuff, but then it usually is!

make sure the barrel ring/support at the front is tight and correctly lined up, they can get loose and move , then spring back when you start shooting

Credit where credit is due, ordered a single shot adapter yesterday lunch time and it arrived at 10 this morning with clear contact details in event of any difficulties or faults. Well done smw engineering, wouldnt hesitate to use again

Sorry to dive in,but you guys know stuff,I have an s400 single shot, can I get it sorted,so it takes a mag,,
Regards Tony.

air arms s400. 👍 👍

I have one (cheaper than a S410!), and it’s very good. Not as fast as a magazine, but cuts out the fishing out a pellet, drop in the tray, damn wrong way round...ah now it’s fallen on the floor! Can’t praise it highly enough
