Alpex 4k power/battery

Just wondering how long people’s charges are lasting on the Alpex 4k. I fully charge the unit and the rechargeable battery before I go out but it’s like the battery isn’t kicking in when the unit starts running low…

Should auto kick over once internal hits a certain threshold, should be seamless and the icon if you have the OSD turned on will change to show you it's now running on the external battery. Maybe experiment with another external battery, see if that makes any difference.

Was wondering this myself as my internal battery has got to the point where I’d expect it to swap to the 2nd one & it hasn’t.

Does anyone have a screen shot showing what the battery icon looks like when it’s swapped over please?

I have only run mine down once but it still didn't use the 18650 as didn't need to but was hours of being out as its in standby all the time while i use a thermal to spot then turn it on and over to the rifle.

Here you go. Just an E and I on the icon.

Brilliant, thanks - that makes perfect sense 👍

Mine has run right down in the internal battery but takes a while to do that as I have it on ‘sleep’ mode so screen turns off when the rifle is on its side across the rails of the highseat. Usually lasts me a couple of days out after the deer.

I’ve only just started putting the external battery in - mainly because I think it’s be handy to have if I need to swap out the one in the thermal spotter 👍

I would preferred this as well i thought there was talk of it going that way but never happened 😞.

The internal battery lasts what…12hrs on standby (might be well out on that) and the internal only a couple of hours. You’d be forever changing them. The concept behind the internal is to save a shooting session in case for whatever reason (usually operator error) the internal is flat.

Been using Alpex’s in one guise or t’other since they first appeared and only once run one flat and it was because I had left it on between morning-evening outings, a couple of 18650s in the binocular harness saved the day.

Maybe then it is better the way it is as long as it doesn't start degrading in the scope. How long were you getting out of the 18650 battery using it just?

I didn’t run it to flat, it gave me easily an hour without running close to flat.

Thats good to know Going to have to run my internal flat and then use the 18650 It would be interesting to see how long it takes to go flat.
