Altberg defenders

Hi I’m currently wearing a pair of the above for hunting and hill walking. They have never let me down bought for £35ish pounds.
Are there any other ex military boots that are lighter ,shorter leg for summer use ? Or any type of walking boots that are reasonably priced?
Thanks in advance gerry

Military currently use AKU, which are quite low, they are Goretex lined, but not overly heating.
Have a check for 'AKU military brown boots' on your favourite website.

The altberg defenders are a really tough and comfy boot. A real bargain at surplus prices. I used a pair coppicing for a couple of years till the mice in my shed ate them. Currently using an eBay bargain pair of Meindl islands which I really like.

I like the Meindl desert boot, you can get them in dark brown if sand isn’t your thing. Not that short a cut, but it’s a good summer boot and they look smart.

My brother in law uses his AKU for their intended purpose and says they're really good and comfy but not as waterproof as his issue altbergs

Alt berg tabbing or sneaker boots are pretty good. fairly high in the leg but definitely lighter.

Another vote for brasher superlight, had mine over 13 years, re-soled once by Timpson's (last year), keep them waxed and they just keep going.
