Have a look at Brandecosse I have a couple of pairs, great boots come in all heights and very waterproof.
Yes i think you are right . Their sizing is very specific. Its the only footwear that i know that goes up in 1/3 of size . I got my first pair at a store that sold mainly asolo and the guy spend some time to make sure i got the right size . As it turns out 43 2/3 is a thing .I found sizing to be critical with this boot more than any I’ve owned. One size larger was a must for me in part due to their narrow fit.

I would say 'great idea', but the AKU GTX seems to have a habit of not lasting very long. Turns the boot into a sloppy slushy mess after about 3 months.![]()

I wish they'd do a non GTX version of this high leg boot, I'd rather get wet feet and know they'll dry out quickly.
Rumour has it the issued itturi is off brand altbergAnother ‘surplus’ option to look at are the Iturri cold wet weather boots.. new in box around the £70 mark if you bide your time on eBay, I started with a pair of the Haix ECW equivalent but got a pair of Iturri’s for last years beating season.
They’re an upgrade on the Haix and have a Meindl style rubber rand… all good so far despite me not taking particular care over them or what I kick through undergrowth wise.
The only thing that niggles me with them is that they have a closed loop locking cleat at the hinge rather than a hook… have they never heard of speed lacing?
cheers

Surplus ones are made to a lower standard sadly, hated my issued one so much I bought their "sneakers"Best everyday boots I've had were Altberg Warriors. I wouldn't recommend buying military surplus ones(Defenders) they're similar but not the same quality. I’ve found that I can take the warriors out of the box, give them a polish and wear all day with no issues, the surplus ones take a lot of gradual breaking in or I get bad blisters.
Wear these in your wellies. You will have good stability, no rubbing or socks being pulled down and dry feet for hours.
They make on contract for mod to a spec so you will see the same spec as altberh, karrimor sf etc. bought my son these iturri, same as SF (identical) and decentRumour has it the issued itturi is off brand altberg
In theory yes.. however the iturri I had were far superior to the altberg and aku I also had at the same time, perhaps I got a lemon of a pair. Absolutely nothing wrong with surplus kit if that suits you and your budgetThey make on contract for mod to a spec so you will see the same spec as altberh, karrimor sf etc. bought my son these iturri, same as SF (identical) and decent
Stuff your trouser legs into your sock. That will keep them from being twisted..... and they always seem to twist my trousers around for some reason.
