Animal charities full to overflowing

The rescues are importing from Romania etc as well. They need inventory to keep things moving and keep donations coming in.

A friend has a quite plausible theory on eastern bloc street dogs. Getting them here for pets seems economically unviable on the face of it. He reckons the eastern bloc governments, who are now relatively new EU members, will be using EU funding to smarten up their major cities. In the absence of EU funding and the consequent need to adopt a bit of western bourgeois civility, they’d surely just poison them.

Already investigated. They want paying. No way am I voluntarily funding the state unless the dog can speak three languages and comes with a complimentary gold brick.
Doesn't sound like you want a dag very much at all. Fully trained and fully serviced throughout it's life but still you don't think that it's worth a penny of your money. Did you want them to pay you or something?

my wife has been trying various places to rehome. Excuses we live too far north. we are too Old. We live on a farm and not street with garden! our dogs are not neutered! the list is endless.

Ahh, the old “ it’s grim up north” argument!! Did you offer to move the coal out of the bath? 🤣

My mate had 4 home visits by Dogs Trust goons that can only be described as hippies/activists to rehome an oldish Boxer dog. It has been over the world and has serious permanent health issues.... it was close to the green jag but they still were reluctant because he "liked a pint".

The problem is explained by the saying that rules are for the observance of fools and the guidance of wise men..... sadly the rescue centres and those who set the regs for who is suitable/unsuitable don’t see the bigger picture of what is occurring.

I was stupid enough to waste my time politely explaining their error of thinking (knowing full well it would make no difference). I should have just said, “No problem. I’ll buy one.”

You can't afford to lose £350 over 5 years on a rifle and you're not prepared to spend 1p on a dog. Mate, from what you're typing on here I would suggest that you cannot afford to own a dog or take up stalking. The dog charity made a wise decision not letting you have a dog IMO because it would appear that couldn't afford the vet bills or food for it.

So how can people justify £3000+ for a puppy when you can get one for nowt ?

I dont know about 3K but i happily pay for my pups because I want better than average odds that it’ll be a recognisable example of its breed and work as expected.
It takes at least a year to know what you’ve really got so I’ll take all the insurance I can get.

So what’s paying over the odds exorbitant pricing got to do with quality control?
Just encourages rip off merchants, conmen and unscrupulous puppy farms if you ask me.

I’ve never seen a dogs working abilities defined by the price tag, but I have seen the calibre of a few idiots defined by the price they are willing to pay.
The phrase “ a fool and his money are easily parted” comes to mind ?

I have been keeping an eye on a few of the Springer rescue places for the last few months and none of them have had any dogs available...

Ther price tag doesn't negate the need to do your home work that's for sure. There are certainly people out there trying to make a fast buck using non health tested dogs. Fortunately it's possible to check all that stuff on line. word of mouth is still a pretty good way to go.

Who says its over the odds?
If that’s what people are prepared to pay that’s market price, your personal upper price limit and pup source may vary but that’s what the free market is all about, each to their own..
