another nail in the coffin

Quite, it’s a British firm going to try and fix something in France. We voted to leave the EU. We chose to limit freedom of movement. We chose to have a hard border. We chose to impose visas on overseas workers etc etc.

It has feck all to do with EU. The EU wanted us to remain. Even when we chose to leave they wanted us to be part the extended free trade area (EFTA) but our government that we voted in chose to not take that option. Boris threw his toys out and got rid of Therasa May.

We were sold a pack of lies by a group of right wing politicians and their chronies who have made a fortune out of shorting sterling and our now laughing all the way to Coutts bank as lack of competition allows prices to rise inexorably upwards.

Even the Torygraph has realised that Brexit was a huge mistake.

Reason why your mates got held up when travelling over to do a welding job, is that they were travelling to do work. This is specifically prohibited in the oven ready withdrawal agreement that Boris “negotiated” and signed on our behalf.

You can only travel to Europe for holiday, or in a professional capacity to enter into agreements or supervise. As soon as it comes to work - it depends on the EU country, but you need a work visa to do “work”.

And their van would have been full of welding kit. This would almost certainly have been valued at well above personal limits. So needs to be declared with import / VAT etc being paid.

I have seen exactly the same issues with other businesses, even those with operations both sides of the channel. No longer can we load up the van with goods, equipment and guys and drive to the other end of Europe and do a job.

It is what the UK government insisted upon. We voted them in. No wonder French customs **** themselves laughing. It’s Turkeys voting for Christmas.

Europe is now as remote and as difficult to work with as just about every other country in the world. You cannot just turn up in the US and work in the US - you need a Green Card.

😂 your like a broken record going on and on your give yourself a heart attack, BREXIT is done move on, moaning about it will not change anything 😂

Well my friend is one of the most sort after welders in the UK as his (own) company repairs tampering in gas and fuel lines called hot tapping. He invoices for the time and delays and they pay...very well. It is very involved with huge controls on the flow of gas/fuel lines. They **** him around but it goes on the bill...Rember France rolled over in 6 weeks to save themselves and many good people died so they can sit and drink coffee holding us up.

So you are recounting events from nearly 80 years ago. In the face of the Hitler’s war machine pretty much the whole of Europe rolled over very quickly. Even the British Expeditionary Force was not able to stop them and we had to retreat at Dunkirk - so we pretty much rolled over as well.

The only reason the UK didn’t become part of the 3rd Reich was the English Channel, the RAF and poor decisions made by Hitler’s High Command.

Eventually Hitler’s War Machine ran out of energy and men after intense bombardment by the US, Canadian, Australian, French, Polish, Czech, Russian, African West Indian, Indian as well as British Forces both from the air and from the ground.

The UK was a fundamental part of rebuilding Europe.

And the French suffered hugely to the Germans. The did not sit back and drink coffee. If you showed any resistance to the Germans you ended up getting arrested. If you were lucky you got put up against a wall and shot. If not you were sent to internment and concentration camps. The Poles suffered even worse.

As for you Mates company - he may well be one of the best welder’s in the UK. He probably was one of the best across Europe. The fact he is invoicing for the time he is buggered about simply means that he will be costing more than European rival companies, this is unsustainable and he will be priced out of the market.

Or he has set up a European subsidiary employing European’s to do all the work in Europe - all of which has minimal value to UK Plc.

And thank God we are rid of them, are you wearing your Remain pants today or only in the week...
