Any foxes shouting??

Had a dog fox come into screaming rabbit with the fox pro 1st up this eve then nowt for an hour. changed location and decided to give the mating call a try and quickly had a dog and vixen come steaming in. Haven’t heard any action of yet around here, this unusually warm and dry autumn and early winter has certainly confused the animals.
Anyone heard any shouting on their patch??

It’s certainly been an odd one, I heard some calling start around 5 weeks ago, and it lasted less than a week, vixen mating call was pulling them in like crazy, but it stopped just like turning a light off, this last week or so I’ve just started hearing the odd call, not tried calling them in again as yet, but keep thinking it won’t be long

Just finished, had 3 come straight in to the vixen call, certainly got other things on their mind than food for a change. 2 more stopped to a squeak off the back of the hand, cracking night used 204 with a 470S on top tonight, 4 dogs 1 vixen.

not a breath of wind, warm and calm night

Had one vixen calling 300 yds away in a wood for 20 mins an hour ago, gone quiet now so packed up, been on the ground since 9pm on a chicken farm outside of Canterbury, few more chooks saved :thumb: the birds didn’t make it in when they locked em up, and the few roost in or under the small bushes permanently rest are all in the sheds it’s just a few stragglers left out but it does pull em in, just right for old Charlie boy to come visiting, 6ft fence don’t stop em, cracking night

The foxes were shouting down here (mid-Devon) when we had a cold spell a couple of weeks ago, but they've been relatively quiet since then. There have been a lot about though - we've had 17 over the last four nights alone!

Also,seeing a lot at present, I was 19 in 4 nights then 21 in 5 nights and now 24 in 6 nights

Not heard anything yet in Herefordshire, but the dog foxes have definitely been coming in carefree to normal mouth calls this week & throwing themselves in front of bullets.

Not heard a peep from them on my shoots yet. Didn't stop a big dog fox coming in to 'distressed rabbit' on Friday evening though ;) Then the vixen came and sat looking at the caller from 200yds out.
Sitting fox at 200yds vs 32gr .204Ruger..... No contest :)

was out last Tuesday, shot a dog fox which came into the caller.
then went for a walk and spotted a fox working a hedge line, i stalked into about 80yds down wind when she came out off the track/hedge and lay down just on the meadow up facing away from me,
i set up on sticks, but didnt know what to do, shoot it in the back of the head? call it, or wait a bit to see if it would move again. within a couple of seconds another fox came out of the hedge and circled her a few times. she stood up and he went back towards the hedge. Bang she went down. i rebolted and moved the rifle towards where the other one went. He was still standing about 6 feet from the first one looking at her. Bang he went down as well.
Yes a vixen and a dog just about to have some fun ! i felt sorry for them both for a nao-second but then thought it saves clearing up the cubs next year.

Had a few calls last night in Surrey area...a brace came to rat distress call but showed no interest in any mating calls

Nothing much on my Mid Devon permission but I can hear them calling in the distance then I hear a lot of gunfire :-)

Which part of mid-Devon are you in? We're on 294 since Jan 1st, but there are still a lot around here, even in places we've been hammering to keep the lambs from being killed.
