any one advise a good knife?

Get yourself a Mora from Moray Outfitting (member of this forum). For £12 or £24 (depending which one you get) these are amazing knives and keep razor sharp edge. Great value for money!
Well done mate ive just joined up on there site and ordered my new knife just cheap enough for me to lose again but less money
regards brian

+1 for Helle, great laminated steel blades, not stupidly priced and easy to sharpen as they have a scandi grind. Mine is the Helle Eggen

have a look at marttiini knives, i love mine, not sure if their a well kept secret or not but if you know where to look you can find them for 35 instead of 65 quid

If you are splashing out have a look at the pictures of the bespoke knives made by Roch on this site. Stunning !

but recently picked up a Buck Woodsman 102 (Phenolic). Which has a 4" blade,

is razor sharp and just a fine & dandy gralloch/small game knife (£50 mark.)

Rgds, Buck.
i would second the buck woodsman when i bought it i was after a decent fixed blade knife with a blade that was slim enough to cut around the asshole without it being to clumsy and the woodsman fitted the bill perfectly, it will quite hapily gralloch 3 roe including going through the breast bone if you get busy whilst out

BladeTech in Llantwst have these on special offer for £20.

David.

X5 - I use them for butchering carcasses, and I carry a folder or two in the field (usually Buck). Both types cheap and cheerful, and you wont weep if you loose them either.

Just a word in favour of the Falkniven H1. Not cheap but an awesome knife which keeps its sharp edge no matter what. I have used and abused mine for about 2 years and found it brilliant.

go to your local engineering suppliers and ask for a bahco 2444 its a mora clipper but with bahcos name on

Good find!

I know what I am doing Tuesday.....

+1 for Mora,. keeps an edge very well, and easy to keep razor sharp...and for £19.99 posted for my Triflex from Bushwear, it's not the end of the world if you lose it...:) also comes in a sheath that it locks into...:)

Go for Hultafors craft knives - they are around £5 each (Yes, £5!) and will do all the hunting jobs - and when you loose one in the dark- which you will do- it doesn't hurt as much. Save your money for a great scope or bino's!

I've had a few expensive buck knives and lost them! Mora has to be the way forward! got three orange ones and havnt lost one yet! typical!!! at £12 you really cant go wrong!

X4 on the mora. I've got two with the orange handles, great when it's low light. Guts the deer easy peazy. However sheath is a bit rubbish.
ah i have been temt to get a mora but like you say the sheaths are a bit like a bayonet scabbard i quite like the helle and martini but wouldnt want to pay
more than 60 bar and somthing a bit longer because my paws are bit like sausages
