Any suggestions for a load using vit 140 on a blaser r8 1/11 twist 308 using sierra game changers 165gr. Would love to hear from people using this . Being a true Yorkshire man I thought I would ask before buying the scierra load manual for just a couple of pages . Thanks in advance

I’ve looked at that and it gives me one load . Just wondering if anyone else has found the magic spot and is willing to share to save me some time

Viht gives you a range of powder charges for N140.

I’ve got the Sierra data and it also gives you the same information as the viht except specific to the bullet you want. Sierra data give you a range of 39.4-44.9gr n140 at a coal of 2.800. Work up as normal observing for signs of pressure, nobody is going to give you a magic charge weight to try.

That isn’t how reloading works!!

Number 1, your barrel harmonics will be different.

Number 2, you should always work up a load not just jump in at someone else’s pet load.

Go buy a reloading manual and stay off the net until you know what you are doing, for your sake and anyone stood near you when you are shooting.

If you look at the Viht web site, they put an asterix on the most accurate load, and I think a 167gn bullet, but with N150 behind it not N140, seems to come out well on the table, funny enough, it also seems good in both my 308's.
So you should be on the right path, with bullet weight, might need to change the powder .
good luck

N140 works well with 165 grain bullets, the OP will find a good load of he follows the data and works up a load.

44 grains of n140 works for me with 165 to 168 grain bullets but do start lower and work up to it.

What did you end up with for a load, Im going to move to the 165gr in my blaser with N140 and being a true scotsman I also want to ask before loadinga load of bullets that are too slow or not grouping well.

Take another Blaser R8 in same calibre and same components as you are proposing and the magic numbers for best performance for it will almost certainly be slightly different to what the sweet spot for your rifle will be.

The only way to find the sweet spot for your rifle is to work up from start load to max load using good trustworthy load date from major powder, bullet and ammo manufacturers.

And just taking suggestions from likes of myself on the Internet as which load to use - I could suggest 51.23 grains of ground Unicorn Droppings. You have no clue as to my reloading ability, whether I have worked up that load safely etc etc. I could just be making it up, and Unicorn Droppings may in fact be very fast burning and produce gross overpressure at min loads, and turn you barrel into rainbow coloured twisted artwork.

Pretty much the Std FTR comp load for 308 and i would say , but you should work it up carefully none the less and avoid pressure
