Good evening, has anyone used a ND3 LASER for fox shooting on a 243. i've seen a few video's of it, but they were by some american, shooting targets with it. Just wondering if any body had used one and if they are as good as they say they are, spotting foxes etc at 250 yards. :)
 
Hi,i thought about buying one,went to the midland gamefair and bsa had a tunnel set up where you could shoot targets with one mounted on air rifles!!! I thought it was good but not good enough for me to buy one.They don't work well in cold weather and Batteries would cost loads to run!Not sure about range in field conditions either.I'm saving my money for nightvision!!
 
I didn't see the try one stand, but have been thinking about one for lamping alone.
I don't like carrying the big lamp and battery, I hate having a bloody great lump on top of the rifle.
I have been trying to get away with a Deben GL4 led light, it's ok, but would be even better if you could adjust where the beam points.
It actually has enough power to work out to 100 yards, and will pick ouy eyes at 200, but I won't take a shot at eyes, I need to see the backstop.

I didn't want batteries and lamp to lug around either,bought a Tiablo led flash light from www.inovatech.co.uk. Mounts onto your scope,gives a full nights lamping with it's two Li-Ion batteries.Gives a tight beam out to 300 yards +.Kit comes with red filter and car charger.Not cheep though and i had couple of niggles,charger didn't work and a spare switch didn't work,replaced by return post.other than that,a great lamp,maybe what your looking for.
 
I have used one on a 223 and with no other light used i took 2 bunnies out to 300 yards with the greatest of ease,

don't get me wrong its NOT nv but mearly a option to lamping and scaring the target off.

just how many times do you find you take a wee bit longer to get on target than you would like,

this is when this comes into its own, they can't see the light source when i took B1 B2 was unaware of any light source so it just moved to one side and then lights out.

the whole thing revolves around the glass on top of the rifle, if you are using lets say a MTC scope, you will have better results with a swarovski, or if you are using a BSA scope you will notice the differance when you have a S&B on the top.

so my over all findings was, if i had the funds i would have one.



on top of all my rifles.

PS: The focusable beam is a cracking idea and works well.

300 yards!!! sounds like a nice bit of kit, what sort of £ are we talking?

:lol:they are unaware that you are there with this lamp.

so what we did was to scan for the eys and then sit with just the caller running, every now and then nd3 on spot and if close enough, click. nite nite,

Is it not quite tricky searching with it? I read that they are not very good around freezing and below and heard stories of people rubber banding hand warmers to them to keep them going. Thats whats putting me off, its already close to freezing up our way and will be until march/april.
 
I have one, I use it on my 10/22 and .223. Have to say I am very impressed with it. It arrives in a carry pouch with a selection of mounts (one of which is elevation and windage adjustable) an extra cap with a pressure switch which you can attach to the stock. Two things I would say are 1) use a wide objective (56mm) and 2) use the colimiter so that the circle of light fills the scope view at the distance your shooting at. Expensive, but a nice bit of kit.
 
nd3 on foxes

well as it happens,hve one on loan for a couple of days from ian .243,went uot tonight with it mounted on my .243,wouldent have bothered on full moon but wanted to try it and fancied a walk,think its a smart bit of kit,shone it on lots of bunnies and did not spook em at all,saw one fox bout 170 yds away,but was not a safe shot so left him,but the green beam did not spook him , think im gunna wait till they bring out the scope mounted 50 mm lens one, should make searching that bit easier,top bit of kit tho.

50mm ones out at the moment but @ £999 I dont think so.

Ok, well my understanding was currently there are two models on sale at the moment,the small scope mounted one i tried recently and a larger one bout the size of a large maglite,both roughly the same price,I was told early next year they are bringing out a scope mounted model with a 50 mm lens,cant imagine a price hike of 700 quid just for a bigger lens??are we talking about the same make??? HORNET
 
my mates,have just looked through a nd 3x50, (sub zero ithink it was called )they have supposed to have cured the cold problems, they were very inpressed,anyone esle herd anything?
 
I bought a ND3, it wouldnt work at anything below zero so it went back to the shop, there is a write up about the new ND3 X 50 in Gun Mart, not sure if the problem has been fixed though, if it has it will be a very useful bit of kit.
