Me and a couple of pals are going for a look about - as much for the social as the deer !

I’m taking the boy out tomorrow evening hopefully for his first buck. Seen some nice ones about. Hopefully they will of cleaned the velvet off. Fingers crossed. Just got back in from lamb patrol, saw some nice bucks out and about with the thermal.

That’s one of the things I hate about the new season for male deer in Scotland. I used to be excited about 1/4, 31st March was like the night before Xmas, now, nothing - dead inside 😂

I thought all you rebellious Scots were going to stick to self-imposed traditional seasons anyway, as a mark of defiance.

Not for a while I don't think. I was out last night, I shot a doe about 30 mins before last light and there was a buck hanging around still well in velvet. For some reason haven't seen too many lately, plenty of does and I assume there must be bucks somewhere!

Beauty! And old too, probably not far from starting to go back, I reckon you got him just in his last ‘full’ year
I think you're spot on I've had my eyes on this one since last year it's good they're making an appearance over my ground these past few seasons.

Out this morning and it was freezing , never saw anything until the sun came out at about 7.30 am
I spied a buck and a doe and the stalk commenced. Luckily they travelled across the grass field and disappeared behind a hedge which is when I was able to close the distance. I got to around 60 yds from the hedge and no sign, so I waited and out popped the doe followed by the buck.
He ran about 50 yds before dropping to a perfect heart shot 😁

An old buck going back 😁

Am out in an hour for the evening. Last few times I have been out on the rabbits I have been watching Bucks skipping all around my permission so I imagine they will all do a miracle vanishing act today now it's the 1st.... thats the usual way! 😂
