AR 7

I've owned a couple over the years . They're OK , and do what they were designed to do , but they aren't overly accurate . They're accurate enough to take a Rabbit out to 50 yards or so , but they aren't match rifles . I bought mine for extended trips in the bush or when going out on Canoeing trips . They are small when disassembled , they float and the butt stock / storage is water proof . Handy little things . For some reason , I always end up giving them away . Are you thinking of buying one ?

Alberta boy,
Your experience sounds
like performance you could expect from such a design.
Not too many on offer here but found one and thought it would be good to stick in my back pack when on fishing trips.
Thanks for your reply, Ken.

They were one of those weapons that did the "hokey cokey" when the Tory handgun ban came in as they were classed "in" (as s5) then "out" (s1) then "in" the "out" again as "small firearms"* that the ban actually prohibited or, for rimfire required to be kept 24/7/365 at designated Home Office range sites. I think that my advice would be to check with your local police force to check.

* The Tory band didn't per se ban pistols or revolvers but banned under s 5 (aba) "small firearms" that is with a barrel under 30cms or overall length of 60cms. As the AR7 had a detachable stock (it was designed as such so as to carry the weapon inside such) it fell foul of the below:

s5 (8)For the purposes of subsection (1)(aba) and (ac) above, any detachable, folding, retractable or other movable butt-stock shall be disregarded in measuring the length of any firearm.

I've got one finnicky on ammo
I had one that was very picky , the other two? were a lot more consistent , but all preferred HV ammo . YMMV .

That's exactly what they were built for .

I remember using one whilst staying out in Camp in the FI in the 80’s - it wasn’t very accurate at all 😕
Sounds like the one I had in the 80's . It was the Charter Arms version . It shot OK with one or two brands of ammo , but would shotgun everything else . It also jammed fairly regularly . The newer Henry rifles are a lot more consistent accuracy wise and are far more reliable .

I think I was the first person to clean this firearm in its entire life - that probably did for me :coat: I cannot remember what ammunition it was but there was no choice and it wasn't a "premier" brand;)
