I do kinda see Marcbo's point.
I use a open sighted big bore single shot with a crappy trajectory. I do this to deliberately make it hard and force me to limit shots to within what I can do with that rifle off sticks. No bipod fitted. I'm an amatuer deer stalker.
My mate uses a bolt action with a nice scope, moddy fitted and bipod in a more modern and flatter chambering. He can technically shoot deer at greater ranges than me. He is also an amateur deer stalker.
The difference is in kit alone. We both would only take safe and humane shots within our abilities. Our choice of kit is largely irrelevant. It is no more ethical if I stalk into a deer and take it at 100 yards or if he does the same.
He can can shoot further if he feels comfortable with it. This doesn't make him less of a stalker. He still takes all the things in to consideration that I do.
Literally no difference but in the kit we use. To each their own I say
